City Attorney Mike Feuer announced an effort this week to free three South Los Angeles homes from the grip of the Five Deuce Broadway Gangster Crips. FBI agents and LAPD officers arrested about 50 people June 17 in a crackdown aimed at the gang as part of an investigation into murders, racketeering, drug dealing and other gang-related crimes.

“Among the most important work my office does is to bring nuisance abatement lawsuits, targeting chronic crime havens, often controlled by gangs,” Feuer said. “Taking back these problem properties from criminals has a tremendous and lasting impact on the quality of life of a community.”

The city attorney’s lawsuits target owners of three single family homes at 142 W. 56th St., 218 W. 58th St. and 328 W. 45th St. Two of the home are near Estrella Elementary School. The lawsuits point to drug sales and criminal activity taking place on the properties, according to the City Attorney’s office.
