More artists confirmed appearances on the Brenda Marsh Mitchell Gospel Stage at the 9th Annual Taste of Soul (TOS) on Saturday, October 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Comedian J-Red has signed on as emcee and the KJLH Gospel Choir and vocalist Jackie Gouche as performers.  The gospel stage will be located at the intersection of Crenshaw and Coliseum Boulevards.

J-Red has appeared at major venues and churches across the country. He’s also shared stages with Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary. Gouche, a songwriter and musician has performed background vocals for Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Yolanda Adams and more during her 30-year career. She serves as Minister of Music at Bible Enrichment Fellowship International Church in Inglewood.

Taste of Soul, created by Sentinel Executive Publisher Danny Bakewell, Sr., takes place on Crenshaw Boulevard from Rodeo to Stocker and on Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard to McClung Drive.

The late Marsh-Mitchell designed and managed the gospel stage at every TOS. Pastor Kelvin Sauls and Holman United Methodist Church take the helm this year and Ricardo Mowatt of Mowatt Entertainment will serve as producer.

“One of the ways we can honor the faith, commitment and unwavering spirit of such a phenomenal woman is to affirm her vision for the presence of extraordinary gospel music at this premier event,” said Pastor Sauls.

“The vision of the Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage is to represent the integrity, quality and dignity of a woman who loved the Lord! Moreover, emanating from the stage will be the holistic message of salvation in Jesus Christ communicated through music, dance, spoken word,” he said.

Other confirmed performers for the gospel stage are saxophonist J. Boykin, A.M.E. Southern California Conference Choir, Echoes of Praise Dance Ministry, First A.M.E. Church Choir, Grace United Methodist Choir, the Holman Gospel Jazz Quartet, Jubilant Voices Praise Team, KJLH Gospel Choir, Melida (gospel artist), Tymeka (spoken word artist) and Yoshika (Japanese Christian vocalist).
