Keyshia Cole was sued November 12, by a woman who alleges the “Never” singer/songwriter assaulted her in a jealous rage.  Sabrina Mercadel filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and premises liability. She is seeking punitive damages of at least $1 million.

A representative for Cole could not be immediately reached. The alleged assault occurred in September while Mercadel and others were visiting singer Birdman at his Westwood home, according to the lawsuit. Mercadel and Birdman, also known as Baby, had been friends since childhood and she worked for him as his personal assistant, according to her court papers.

According to the complaint, Cole arrived and accused Mercadel of being romantically involved with the rapper, asking her, “What are you doing with my man?” Cole insinuated that Mercadel was a prostitute and struck her on her buttocks, saying, “You can get your money later,” the suit alleges. Cole then threw Mercadel to the ground and began punching her in the face, according to the complaint.

Mercadel says she eventually escaped to the building’s lobby, where she met with police who were called to the scene by other guests.
