“Empire” will bring on veteran actor Clarence Williams III in a guest-starring role for season two, reports TheWrap.

Williams will play Huey Jarvis, a legendary music mogul and mentor to Lucious Lyon. Jarvis hosts a prestigious series of weekly “Living Room” shows, which artists view as a gig that will increase their chances of winning top music awards.

Williams, a well-known character actor with a career dating back to the 1960’s, is best known for playing Linc Hayes on the 1970’s TV series “The Mod Squad” and the abusive father of Prince’s character The Kid in “Purple Rain. Williams also previously collaborated with “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels on the 2013 movie “The Butler.”

Clarence Williams III joins Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Ludacris, Andre Royo, Pitbull, Adam Rodriguez, Tyra Ferrell and Rev. Al Sharpton among the guest stars for Season 2.

Despite the lengthy list, Daniels told TV critics that the celebrity drive-bys won’t take away from the show’s central focus on the Lyon family – and he’ll see to it that it never will.
