The 10th Council District Women's Steering Committee is hosting its 41st Annual Installation Luncheon on Sunday, January 24, with the theme “Inspiring a Vision for Change.” Community leaders and elected officials will be on hand to recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions during the 2016 officers installation program.




Honorees for the luncheon include Nolan Rollins, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League; Theresa Price, founder and president of the National College Resources Foundation (aka Black College & Latino Expo); Karla Gordy Bristol, CEO of Bristol Entertainment, Vice President of the Fuller Gordy Foundation and real estate agent; Pamela A. Bakewell, Executive Vice President and COO of the Bakewell Company.  The keynote speaker is Deborah Ale Flint, Executive Director of World Way, which includes LAX, Ontario and Van Nuys airports.




Dr. Cecil L. “Chip” Murray, Chair in Christian Ethics Senior Fellow (USC), will deliver the invocation and blessing. He will also be acknowledged for his many accomplishments. The mistress of ceremony will be Cora-Jackson Fossett of the Los Angeles Sentinel.





The organization was founded in 1973 by Councilman David Cun­ningham and Congresswoman Max­ine Waters, along with other women political trailblazers in the city of Los Angeles. The members of the WSC are dedicated women, who have been at the forefront as advocates for family, youth, children and seniors to resolve economic, educational, health and safety issues in the Los Angeles community.





For the last thirty years, through the Johnabel Gentry Scholarship Program, WSC provides scholarships for students graduating from High School in Council District 10. The WSC is still the oldest, largest and most powerful Women’s Steering Committee in Los Angeles.  WSC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. 


The event is open to the public at the Proud Bird Restaurant and Event Center, 11022 Aviation Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. Tickets are now available for purchase for $60.00, which includes the luncheon, live entertainment, door prizes and a raffle.
