Singer El DeBarge was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism in the San Fernando Valley.
DeBarge, 57, whose birth name is Eldra DeBarge, was taken into custody about 9 p.m. Friday by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Station. He was released about 10 a.m. Saturday on $20,000 bail, jail records show.
According to TMZ.com, the singer got into an argument “and chased a man out of a house ... forcing him to retreat to a nearby RV.”
“We’re told DeBarge was not deterred, and followed after the guy with a wrench, which he allegedly smashed into the RV’s windshield,” TMZ reported. “That’s when the other guy called police, who arrested DeBarge for felony vandalism.”
DeBarge is known for the song, “Rhythm of the Night,” first released in 1985, which was featured in the 2016 film “Ghostbusters: Answer the Call.”
