A woman who was shot to death in the Chesterfield Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles in a car-to-car shooting was identified by county authorities on Monday, September 26.

Bre'yanna Bailey, 28, was the shooting victim, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.

The shooting occurred at about 11:50 p.m. near Slauson and Western\ avenues, Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Letisia Ruiz told City News Service.

Witnesses told police one or more suspects in a sedan chased a Lexus SUV in which Bailey was riding in the back seat, and several shots were fired at the SUV, mortally wounding Bailey.

The driver of the SUV then drove to St. Andrews Place and Slauson Avenue and crashed into a fire hydrant.

Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other women in the SUV were uninjured.

According to reports from the scene, the women were returning from having dinner when the shooting occurred.

“She did not deserve this -- did not deserve this,'' Bailey's cousin, Katrina Taylor, told KTLA5.
