Former Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal has been tapped to host the National Basketball Association's 2019 awards show on June 24.

O'Neal, one of the studio co-hosts of TNT's popular NBA coverage along with Ernie Johnson and fellow former NBA stars Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, and led the Lakers to NBA titles in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

The 2019 NBA Awards will be presented at the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport, and will be televised live on TNT. The league said O'Neal will be joined by “special celebrity guests, current and former NBA players throughout the star-studded show.”

The awards will include the unveiling of the league's Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, among other awards.
