The mother of a 28-year-old woman killed in a shooting near the Venice boardwalk pleaded for public help today to find her daughter's killers.

Ky Thomas was shot about 5:25 p.m. Dec. 1 in the area of Ocean Front Walk and 17th Avenue and died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, which said the shooting was gang-related.

According to police, a dispute had occurred between the victim, her boyfriend and three unidentified male suspects, who ran from the crime scene.

Thomas' mother, Cortlyn Bridges, said her daughter, a mother of two, was not a gang member.

The victim is survived by an 8-year-old daughter and 1- month-old son.

Bridges said her granddaughter wanted to know if she could text her mom in heaven so she could help her get into her computer.

“I want justice for her kids, if nothing else, justice for her kids.

I want justice for my daughter, I'm angry as hell,'' Bridges told CBS2.

Thomas had a heart condition and overcame those challenges to give her children a better life, her mother said.

She had recently bought a house, but had not yet moved in, Channel 2 reported.

Bridges begged the public to come forward if they know the names of the suspects.

“I'm begging you please, it could have been your child ... Just call the police and let them know, I'm begging you. My grandchildren don't have their mother,'' Bridges said.

“They took my baby from me. Y'all took my baby... They need to be held accountable for what they did.''

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call LAPD West Bureau homicide investigators at 213-382-9470. Those wishing to report anonymously can call at 800-222-TIPS.
