Arts & Culture HBO Network Releases Premieres New Show, ‘Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty’

HBO Network released a new show, “Winning Time: The Rise of The Lakers Dynasty” on March 6, 2022.
Based on Jeff Pearlman’s book Showtime: Magic, Kareen, Riley and The Los Angeles Lakers, The 10-episode HBO drama series celebrates one of the most storied basketball teams of all time.
“Winning Team” will bring fans closer to the team that defined an era both on and off the court and give an intimate look into the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers.
The show is executive produced by Succession’s Adam McKay. McKay also directed the show’s pilot, and joining him from Hyperobject Industries is Executive Producer Kevin Messick.
Max Borenstein serves as showrunner, executive producer, writer and co-creator.
Jim Hecht is co-writer of the story, executive producer, and co-creator. Jason Shuman, Scott Stephens, and Rodney Barnes also join as executive producers.
The ensemble cast includes John C. Reilly as Jerry Buss, Jason Clarke as Jerry West, Adrien Brody as Pat Riley, Quincy Isaiah as Magic Johnson, Sally Field, and Jason Segel, among many others.
To celebrate the series premiere of the show, HBO Network also teamed up with Project Blackboard and California artist, David Flores, to refurbish a local basketball court at Rogers Park, located at 400 W Beach Avenue in Inglewood, CA.
The court design was unveiled during an exclusive, all-day event, with programming that included a community dedicated ceremony followed by an influencer skills camp led by celebrity basketball trainer and show consultant, Idan Ravin.
The colorful court refurbishment is inspired by the glitz and glamour of the “Winning Time” era of basketball and the nostalgic 1980s art from the show.
Court dedication attendees included Dan Peterson, director of Project Blackboard.
Also, Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, Jr., participated in the dedication, speaking on behalf of the community.
“Winning Time” is available to watch live on HBO and HBO Max. Episodes release on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. EST/ 6:00 p.m. EST.
