Cecil Rhambo is a Compton-native leading the largest airport safety division in the nation. Rhambo oversees approximately 1,000 sworn in and civilian personnel at LAX and Van Nuys Airports. As chief of airport police, Rhambo has shown to be forward thinking and progressive in methods of protection.

After the social awakening of George Floyd, Rhambo banned the practice of chokeholds. As sheriff, Rhambo is looking to expand on that platform and face difficult concerns of city head on. His priorities include the complications behind the growth of the unsheltered population, crime reduction, and ending the school to prison pipeline.

Rhambo plans to make changes within law enforcement, making sure no one is above the law. Within the lines of public safety, Rhambo has supported oversight programs. He will lean into the participation of Los Angeles County Civilian Oversight Commission, Inspector General, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, as well as community groups, to hold the police department accountable for their actions and create a system of transparency.
