As a first generation Latinx woman that served the public under President Obama, Marina Torres embodies the civic duty that one would hope to have in the City Attorney of Los Angeles. Dedicated to representing the collective community and their rights to be heard in court, Torres plans to champion the needs of the city with a sense of conviction.

The City Attorney candidate is one that must be in touch with the needs of the community, particularly paying attention to those who are marginalized and underrepresented. Torres has experienced the hardships that come from families with incarcerated ties, giving her a unique level of compassion and empathy that she shares through various acts of justice.

Torres has looked for alternatives to incarceration and is constantly working on ways to make the community a safer place for all. If elected, Torres vows by a mission of justice, fairness, and the passion to fight for equality. She hopes to build a bridge between the people and the law and has spent over a decade handling civil and criminal cases with justice being her number one priority.

“I want [people] to know who the City Attorney is and how important the City Attorney is in their lives…I want them to know that their experiences, values, and their beliefs are represented in me. Because of what I’ve lived, because of what I’ve gone through, I get it.” – Marina Torres
