John J. Kennedy has led a number of complex and diverse organizations. He has a thorough understanding of domestic and international practices and procedures, which he has gained through extensive experience and political exposure.

Serving as Vice Mayor Pasadena from 2017 to 2019 and then Councilmember since May 2013, Kennedy has spent years dedicating his life to the city of Pasadena and its people.

On April 2, 2022, Councilmember Kennedy hosted a community event, kicking off his re-election campaign, continuing his dedication to uplift, protect, and unify the people of Pasadena.

In his years of serving as Councilmember, Kennedy has led an effort to establish a Community Police Oversight Commission, requiring officers to wear body-worn cameras. He has initiated two new housing developments in District 3, one for previously homeless seniors with full social services, and one for 180 units of workforce housing.

He’s also worked endlessly to convince the City Council of Pasadena to adopt a policy that new affordable housing be distributed equitably throughout the City, rather than being concentrated in the less wealthy neighborhoods of Pasadena.

With a mission to “Build One Pasadena”, in his re-election, Councilmember Kennedy plans to build three-thousand new units of affordable housing, distributed throughout the city, with 15% of those units reserved for extremely low-income families.

“I ask for your vote for my re-election because I believe my record of accomplishments speaks to the importance of working with constituents and policy-makers to bring about results for District 3 and the whole City,” stated Councilmember John J. Kennedy.
