The ALLIANCE in Partnership with Brotherhood Crusade is Holding its Second Annual Unity March & Dialogue on July 24; Youth, Members of the 12 Pro Sports Teams of Greater LA, Community Members & LAPD Marching Together

In a youth-led event on July 24 that will bring together local young people, community members, LAPD officers, civic leaders as well as representatives from the 12 pro sports organizations of greater Los Angeles, the public is welcome to join The Alliance Unity March & Dialogue that will again emphasize Los Angeles is united against racism. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the event starts at 9 a.m. at the NW Plaza at Banc of California Stadium.
The event has been coordinated in partnership with Brotherhood Crusade. A deejay will provide a festive, joyful tone to get things moving as the march comprised of community members and LAPD officers, starts at 10 a.m. from the NW Plaza at Banc of California Stadium.
Materials will also be provided for the youth to create supportive signs for their walk together in a rally prior to the march. Refreshments will be provided during the rally.
The march will also conclude at Banc of California Stadium followed by a smaller cohort of attendees who will participate in a facilitated dialogue with LAPD officers and personnel from the 12 pro teams. Event programming will end at 1 p.m.
The Alliance was formed by the professional sports organizations in greater Los Angeles after the highly-publicized deaths of Black American citizens – most prominently George Floyd. The march also commemorates the second year of The Alliance working together in partnership the Play Equity Fund, a 501(c)3 public charity established by the LA84 Foundation to drive social change through sport.
The Brotherhood Crusade is sharing in coordinating the event and has also been key in developing the curriculum for The Alliance Youth Empowerment Program for student-athletes in local high schools.
Student-athletes from both high schools learned about advocacy, leadership and systemic inequalities that affect their communities.
Prior to the end of the school semester, students also learned from pro athletes and leaders from The Alliance organizations about careers in the sports industry.
The 12 teams that form The Alliance Los Angeles include the Anaheim Ducks, Angel City Football Club, the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Chargers, L.A. Clippers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Football Club, L.A. Galaxy, L.A. Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Sparks. The Alliance works to bring awareness to the inequities that exist in communities of color, empower youth to create change and educate young people to career opportunities that exist in the sports industry beyond being a pro athlete.
The Play Equity Fund is the only nonprofit dedicated to play equity as a social justice issue. The Play Equity Fund works to bring the transformative power of sport and structured play to all youth – regardless of their race, where they live, their socioeconomic status, ability or gender.
