Lawrence Robinson isn’t new our television screens. For years, he’s appeared in national commercials with brands, like Macys, and even played roles in movies like BET’s “Brotherly Love”and  “Heaux Phase”.

More recently, Robinson’s made special appearances in Tyler Perry’s hit show “Sistas” on BET as the character, Chris. The actor, born and raised in West Philadelphia, has spent years diversifying his resume with a wide range of on-screen hits, and is slowly becoming a Hollywood favorite.

Robinson shared with the Los Angeles Sentinel that he’s always had a love for the entertainment world but didn’t originally see himself in acting. His love for the art happened accidently. It wasn’t until he took acting as an elective, back in college in 2008, that he really began to pursue it as a career.

The actor and model called his recognition in the industry a “dope” feeling.

“I’ve been doing this for ten years, now,” he continued. “So, it’s been a long time, but to finally start, you know, racking up some credits and see people start recognizing my work feels good. I’m just blessed, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to get some good credits, you know?”

With appearances on hit networks like BET to NBC, of all the films and television shows the rising star has been on, his favorite was the charter, Rayful Edwin, which he played in his most recent show “Tales”. “Tales” came out in August.

Robinson is passionate about portraying characters that he feels connected to.

When he’s not spending time with his newborn baby girl, he’s auditioning multiple times a week, working endlessly to advance his portfolio.

“I don’t want to just be the guy that just says a few lines on a TV show,” he shared with LAS. “I want to really tell stories and bring characters to life.”

He is hoping, as the year comes to an end, that he books more roles that take the audience through a journey. Robinson shared the unique dream of eventually playing a drug addict, or anyone who struggles with addiction, in a show or movie.

“I just feel like it’s one of those things where it’s beyond drugs. You have to be in a really deep, dark place, and I feel like I’ve seen a lot of people go through that in my life. So, just after seeing that, I want to shed light, and basically show an addict from a positive standpoint. Everyone that’s on drugs, you know, there’s a reason that they’re on them. It’s not because they want to be on drugs, you know?

So to touch light on that would be dope.”

With over ten years of experience in the entertainment industry, Lawrence’s best advice for any actors trying to find their way is to take an acting class.

“Whether it’s in Zoom or In-person, find an acting class. I went to TISA (Tasha Smith Acting Workshop). So, you could be anywhere in the world when you attend that workshop. But, I think staying in class is important, and not focusing on social media is also a good tool. Just focus on your craft,” said Robinson.

Currently, Robinson is working on a movie called “The Threesome”, which will be released soon.

He also has a Christmas Romance movie “The Business of Christmas”, which comes out at the end of the year. To keep up to date with this rising star check out his Instagram (@lawrencehrobinson).
